I understand some local tackle shop owners are busily loading up their lure walls while kicking a rhythmic instep and whistling as they dance.
Likewise, professional barra guides and fishing lodge operators are clinking amber-foaming glasses and saluting the unseasonal arrival of truly-incredible rainfall across the Top End.
Yes indeed, the skies have literally fallen down over the past week in what has been a torrential start to the annual build-up season.
An example from just the period spanning Sunday... (more)
The latest Issue No 31 of the Australian blockbuster fishing and outdoors magazine, NAFA, will hit the newsstands late July.
This bumper issue has 236 pages of Australia-wide fishing coverage, as well as a “flip-over” NAFA’S OUTDOORS magazine with its own cover.
NAFA is published only twice a year and represents great value at $19.95 for such a big, high-quality fishing and outdoors magazine.

The 19 year old caught the 65cm barra while fishing with childhood friend, Joseph Puntoriero.... (more)
If the Law of Averages has any sway at all, the odds of the actual Million Dollar Fish being caught is now shorter than it’s ever been.
After Shaymus Frewen caught the eighth tagged barra worth $10,000 last Sunday, and with now only 67 similar-tagged fish and the sole seven-figure fish still at liberty, don’t be surprised if the big bucks go off.
I find it strange to write “don’t be surprised” because I’m still mightily surprised that so many of these tagged barra... (more)
