Alex's Fishing Report 15 June 2017

There’s no questioning that we are now well into the dry season, and it looks like being a windy one at that.
The last two weekends have been plagued by strong winds, at times gusting to more than 40kmh.
That made it difficult – or at least a tad uncomfortable – to fish offshore.
The news is that it won’t be much different this coming weekend.
According to Mark Kersemakers, one of our friendly Bureau of Metreology forecasters: “We don’t expect to be issuing any wind... (more)

With 309 barramundi, 415 saratoga, 115 catfish and a staggering 1041 tarpon caught by 18 teams of two in last weekend’s Territory Freshwater Fly Fishing Open, there must have been a lot of long, bent rods over the two days.

According to TEBS co-ordinator Ross Abraham, the Daly is stacked to the brim with juvenile barra and it would be safe to say that there were literally hundreds of sub-50cm fish caught and released.
“No matter where you fished, it was a constant ‘rat’ attack but there were... (more)

Cameron Briscoe was one excited angler when he received a call from his old mate Shane Compain just the night before orientation day for last week’s Barra Classic, asking if he could be a late fill-in in the Top End Tackle World team.
“I had to get permission from my boss at work before I could commit, and then from my main boss, the Missus,” Cam told me.
His excitement did not go unfounded as Top End Tackle World went on to register a resounding victory in the Darwin Game Fishing... (more)
