Hiroshi Fukaya had never fished before, but the new Shimano Sedona proved the
perfect, and affordable, entry-level reel.

The ever-popular Shimano Sedona spinning reel has received a significant makeover for 2017 with the new FI series. The Shimano Sedona retails at around the $100.00 mark and is set to shake up the competition with an aggressive push at this market segment with the FI model. The new Sedona FI now incorporates the “Hagane” cold-forged refined gear technology which contributes towards the smooth running together with 3 + 1 ball bearings and dyna balance rotor. The AR-C spool ensures smooth accurate casting and G free body makes for a balanced feel while in the field.
As you would expect from Shimano, no problems were encountered during the field test with the new Sedona FI. In fact, proof in the pudding of this was when first-time fisherman Hiroshi Fukaya was handed the Sedona on a trip to Corroboree Billabong. The barra he caught were only small but he caught plenty of them, and he mastered casting quickly without issues.
With 6 models to choose from, ranging from 1000 up to 5000 sizes, the Sedona FI represents exceptional value and performance at a very affordable price point, with a 10 year warranty to boot.
