There are only six rods in the new Wildfsih range at this stage, and these have been carefully selected to cover the majority of Australian fly fishing scenarios. The first thing you’ll notice is just how straightforward these rods are, with little in the way of flash decorative trims and elaborate bindings. They are functionally and simply built, with dark green bindings and a good covering of epoxy. They look robust and built to last, and they are priced at the lower end of the market.
Across the range, the cork quality is excellent, as are the grip shapes. The reel seats are robust and, in the heavier rods, are genuine saltwater reel seats, not things that are going to corrode and disintegrate at the first sniff of saltwater.
From trout to barra and everything in between, the range is fairly complete but with room for further expansion. The consensus amongst experienced fly fishers who’ve tried several rods in the range is a vote for the #7. A lot of saltwater and freshwater fly fishers in the north are sure to appreciate this rod.
