ABU REVO MGX

The new ABU Garcia REVO MGX won the Best New Reel at the Australian Fishing Tackle Association’s Tackle Show in 2011. It is a good-looking, low-profile baitcast reel, finished in tactical matt black with silver highlights.

The compact frame, sleek lines, swept carbon fibre handle and Eva knobs reflect the purposeful, precision, streamlined elements of the MGX. This reel is so light you are left wondering if you actually picked it up. Unbelievably, the Revo MGX reel tips the scales at a mere 151gm! It also features a free-running lightweight spool that can swallow 120m of 10kg Stren Sonic braid or 100m of 15kg, making it a useful barra contender.

ABU employs its familiar carbon matrix drag system in the Revo MGX. Straight out of the box, the drag is smooth yet powerful, capable of punching well above its weight. With 9 plus 1 bearings, a 7.1:1 gear ratio, and to cast long distances with silky precision, this reel has the goods to muscle up to any barra, and would be a delight to use on bass.

Comments: I would be more than happy to have the ABU Revo Premier in my inventory. It ticks all the right boxes: lightweight, smooth in operation, exemplary line control, really nice drag with fine click adjustments and a real eye catcher. A double bonus is that you can baffle your fishing mates with Nano Sheild and Nanofil techno talk, and put them off their game!
