With the much anticipated arrival of the new 100mm Evolution jig heads, what better place to test them out than the Arnhemland Barramundi Nature Lodge. Our guide, Jason, took us to the nearby reefs. 6” Berkley and 9” Zman grub tails were easily accommodated on the new jig heads. Fishing in 50ft of water the 1/2, 3/4 and 1oz jig heads got our plastics to the bottom with ease.
By keeping contact with the jig head, and using 2/0 double hooks with points facing up, meant a snag-free day on the reefs. The 2/0 double hooks (chemically sharpened) brought every fish to the boat and the length of the jig head provided leader protection from the razor sharp teeth of the reef fish.
