Inhouse Review By Roger Sinclair
Tackle Tactics has added a nifty detachable weight to the eye of its “Chinlockz” offset worm hooks to create its new “Snakelockz” jigs. These heads are another useful addition to the Tackle Tactics Chinlockz range of weedless hooks that provides different rigging solutions to compliment its range of ZMan plastics. Sample sizes tested were 3/0, 4/0 and 6/0 in a variety of weights. However, they are available in 2/0, 3/0, 4/0, 5/0, 6/0 & 8/0 fitted using Mustad Needle Point Worm Hooks.
Snakelockz are available in a range of hook sizes and weights that suit most popular Zman Elaztech plastic baits, in particular Swimmerz, Paddlerz and Minnowz. For convenience, each head has the weight stamped on it for easy identification once released from the original packaging. The crew at Tackle Tactics has obviously put plenty of thought into the construction of these Snakelockz heads. They have used a substantial gauge of stainless wire in the connection link and eyelet and the tow point is positioned with bias towards the top of the weight to ensure a keel effect to stabilise the rigged bait. The articulated connection between weight and hook enhances the swimming action of a rigged soft plastic which is a great feature. Field testing confirmed the Snakelockz appeal when rigged with a ZMan Minnowz with a number of barra succumbing to the new rig. The weights are quite easy to detach once you have the knack, so being able to mix and match weights and hooks is a neat idea.
