Honda Marine’s new high-horsepower range has now landed in Australia, comprising the BF115, BF140 and BF150 inline-four (L4) models, along with the BF200, BF225 and BF250 V6 outboards. Announced earlier this year, the range was overviewed in NAFA 45. The updated line-up delivers refined performance, improved durability and smarter usability across the board.

The new Honda BF250 redefines marine performance, blending cutting-edge automotive and marine engineering to deliver class-leading reliability, efficiency and control. Powered by a 3.6L V6, 24-valve SOHC engine, the BF250 delivers exceptional performance, reliability, and durability.

Despite its muscle, the BF250’s sleek, compact profile allows easy installation, even in multi-engine setups. A 90-amp belt-driven alternator reduces heat build-up and enhances battery charging efficiency.

Honda’s BF250 delivers refined V6 power with Drive-by-Wire precision, Auto Trim Support, and advanced fuel-saving technologies for smoother, more-efficient cruising.

Drawing inspiration from the flagship BF350 V8, the BF250 introduces Drive-by-Wire (DBW) technology for more precise throttle and shift response. On DBW models, anglers can enjoy Automatic Tilt, which presets trim angles to simplify docking and mooring, and Cruise Control, which holds a steady speed for relaxed cruising or controlled trolling. Auto Trim Support further fine-tunes engine trim automatically based on speed, maintaining the perfect running attitude for comfort and fuel efficiency.

At the heart of Honda’s fuel-saving strategy is an advanced oxygen (O₂) sensor that continuously adjusts the air–fuel mixture, complemented by ECOmo Lean Burn Control. These systems optimise combustion, reduce emissions and deliver impressive economy — all managed by Honda’s Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) and sophisticated Engine Control Unit (ECU).

With BLAST acceleration, AMP+ charging, and full NMEA2000 integration, the BF250 provides smarter control and reliable performance for offshore and family boating.

Performance off the mark is enhanced by BLAST™ (Boosted Low Speed Torque), which sharpens acceleration by adjusting the air/fuel ratio and ignition timing for more torque during rapid acceleration. The result is quicker planing and confident throttle response — ideal when conditions demand instant power.

Honda’s on-demand charging system provides up to 60 amps of reliable output. The clever AMP+ function automatically increases idle speed by 100 rpm to deliver an extra 9 amps, preventing battery drain when running sonar, GPS, lighting or pumps at anchor — a real advantage for extended offshore trips.

Full NMEA2000 compliance ensures easy integration with multi-function displays and marine electronics via CANbus, giving boaters real-time data and streamlined helm layouts.

Durability remains a hallmark of Honda Marine. The BF250 features the company’s 4-Front corrosion-protection system, a multi-layer, double-sealed coating that shields against salt and humidity to preserve both performance and finish. A bottom-mounted flywheel further reduces vibration and noise, giving the engine Honda’s trademark smoothness and that satisfying V6 sound at idle.

For anglers, Trolling Control (DBW only) allows precise speed adjustments in small increments, maintaining stable movement when working lures or livebaits.
