New Gear From GME

GME’s GPS EQUIPPED EPIRBs GAIN COSPAS SARSAT APPROVAL

GME recently received COSPAS SARSAT approval for its GPS equipped Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons, the manually and water activated MT403G and the automatic MT403FG.

The new models incorporate a 16 Channel GPS receiver that in an emergency will transmit the beacon’s latitude and longitude as well as the identification of the owner. This will result in a much faster emergency response time through the geostationary GEOSAR satellite constellation and most importantly a reduced search and rescue area, typically less than 100 metres, compared to around 5 kilometres with conventional 406MHz beacons.

The approval of the MT403G and MT403FG beacons will further strengthen the position of GME in the local market, but most importantly it will enable the company to maintain its momentum in international markets, where the trend, particularly in Europe and North America has shifted significantly towards GPS-equipped EPIRBs.

Although GME has been intimately involved in the design and manufacture of emergency beacons for 30 years, it was not until 2003, with the introduction of the award winning MT400 406 MHz EPIRB that GME really started to gain recognition as a potent force in markets outside of Australasia. Now with a full beacon portfolio, including manual, water and automatic activated EPIRBs, PLBs and now GPS beacons, GME has a safety solution for all contingencies, be it pleasure boating, commercial shipping, general aviation or land based activities.”
