Sportfishers who enjoy crisp casting rods built on the latest high-modulus carbon graphite blanks will be impressed by the new Rovex Energy rod range. Rovex commissioned master rod builder Gary Howard to select blanks and custom design each of the configurations to suit popular Aussie lure-fishing styles and local conditions. That project’s result is an eight-rod range offering four spin and four baitcast models. The spin models include a 6’0” 2-4kg and 6’6” 3-5kg—both ideal for flicking soft plastics and small hard-bodies for bream, whiting, flathead, bass and trout—plus a versatile 7’0” 3-6kg for line-burning fun on Australian salmon, tailor and rat kings. The 7’0” 8kg feels light in the hand and offers excellent casting capabilities yet retains the grunt needed for snapper, inshore tropical pelagics and coral trout. The four baitcast models, all built to 5’6”, are: 6kg , 8kg, 10kg and 12kg.
