The new Simrad NSS 4 is a premium all-in-one chartplotter and fishfinder designed for both cruisers and serious sportfishing enthusiasts. It combines fast processing, flexible hybrid controls and advanced sonar/imaging capability in a sleek, modern design.

Design and Controls
Simrad describes the NSS 4 as “sleeker, faster and smarter”. It comes in 10″, 12″ and 16″ sizes, featuring a glass-to-edge display that gives a modern, premium look. The “hybrid” control system offers touchscreen, rotary dial and keypad operation, providing flexibility in rough or wet conditions. The keypad includes Custom Keys with short- and long-press options for quick access to favourite functions. Dual front SD-card slots and a USB 2.0 port handle charts, storage and updates.
Performance and Connectivity
Powered by a Qualcomm eight-core processor, the NSS 4 is Simrad’s fastest chartplotter yet, delivering smooth transitions and rapid auto-routing. It features WiFi 5 (802.11ax) and Gigabit Ethernet, ensuring high-speed chart and data transfers across the vessel’s network.
Charting and Navigation
The NSS 4 supports C-MAP X-Gen charts, including DISCOVER X and the enhanced REVEAL X with shaded relief and satellite imagery. Auto-routing is significantly faster than previous models, and the unit supports third-party mapping such as CMOR Mapping and Standard Mapping formats.
Fishfinding and Sonar
For anglers, the NSS 4 features a dual-channel 1 kW CHIRP echosounder, plus DownScan and SideScan sonar. It supports Active Imaging HD and can display up to four simultaneous sonar feeds when linked with networked modules such as the Simrad S5100 or S3100H. Compatible transducers range from shallow-water CHIRP to deep-water 1 kW systems. Sonar data can be shared between NSS 4 and NSX® units.
Integration and Compatibility
Built as the hub of the Simrad ecosystem, the NSS 4 integrates with HALO® radar, RECON™ trolling motors, autopilots (NAC-1 to NAC-D), and the Simrad App for trip planning. It also supports Mercury SmartCraft®, Honda and Suzuki engine interfaces, CZone® digital switching, FLIR thermal cameras, Lumishore lighting and more.
Installation and Build
The NSS 4 can be rear-mounted or bracket-mounted. The 16″ model offers 1920 × 1080 resolution, over 1200 nits brightness, wide viewing angles and IPx6/IPx7 waterproofing. It operates from 12/24 V DC and is built to handle extreme marine conditions.
